Fall arrived today. This is a closeup of our largest Lantana bush and one of the hundreds of butterflies that have called it home this year. The hillside where we live is made up mostly of Alabama red clay. We have to add manure, potting soil, or mulch to the flower beds in order to get most plants to live and do well. I guess that's why I love the lantana plants so well. Not only are there several types to choose from, but these hardy, drought loving plants will grow almost anywhere. This particular bush is growing where our gravel driveway used to be. It's nice to take a break from writing to sit on the porch swing and watch the colorful show.
